Good voice morphing tool?

For everything after the recording stage: hardware/software and how you use it.

Existing alternatives aren't cheap (StudioPros, etc.). Maybe competition will result in prices being down all around.

Also, sometimes a hired singer can knock it out of the park, EZvox will have to compete with that.

We know Toontracks has been working on EZvox for a while (right?) ... interesting days ahead!

Hmm. I can't decide how I feel about it yet. Same as if they brought out EZ Soloist for guitars (or anything else for that matter). At the moment I think its a step too far and I wouldn't take it up. But I already bought EZD3. Hmmm. I wonder what the selectors for something like BBC Introducing would make of it. There's no point in them trying to break artificial artists.

Yes, it's funny/not funny how I rationalize things.

I've installed fake drummers and bass players (EZD3 like you, and EZbass) into my computer, they are just "things to help me make my songs sound cooler, wow, these tools are great!".

But EZKeys (I'm a piano player)? "Oh no sir, never, not me, that would be cheating, unethical!!":lol::roll:

I've not used any AI otherwise if the EZ series is even considered AI? (will get back to you Matt Houghton when I get to lalas which I think I will), it will be interesting to me, and all my legions of fans (like I said, "to me") how/if I rationalize using that.

Meh, they're all just tools. I don't really see how it's any different to getting a session musician in. You're using someone else's specific skill to execute your wider vision. Why does it matter if it's pre-recorded or not?

Quite. The only real reason it might matter is *if* it led you to lower the threshold for what you deem an acceptable result. These tools don't have to do that — they'll give you access to what you want or they won't, and as with any tool you need to learn how to use them — but you might need to guard against speed and convenience leading you down that path.

Well, that's kind of how I've rationalised EZD3 to myself so far. Once I had used it for real I realised that all the things I had asked it to do - I would have had to specify to a session drummer anyway. Even to the extent of using the library to suggest something like a nice bridging pattern between two standards. I'd be more than happy to ask a session player what they would do there. And it really makes arranging faster. I feel the other roles I should be prepared to work at and fill as a competent song writer - and it's fun playing actual instruments - but drums are not even in it for me as a musician.

Yep, and actually, just to undermine my previous argument, personally I think there's something about passing off as well and being honest about who or what created what.
I think that's less of an issue if you're creating your own music but I suspect it's only a matter of time before someone gets snagged for being on Fiverr and offering services that are based entirely on these tools.

I smoked 40 a day for 40 years. Tom Waits sounds like my little sister. Rod Stewart sounds as smooth as silk to me. There's no substitute for artistic commitment.

Why do bad things mostly seem to happen to people who light up a room when they enter it?

Only counts if you smoked roll ups made of Pirate Shag.
