Funnily enough I've definitely been indulging in some avoidance behaviour on the next EP tonight. But it does mean I have a token Jamuary entry ;)
https://soundcloud.com/blinddrew/jamuary-20250123

The base track was a smidgen of previous recording stretched out hugely, then I've just lobbed on a few cut and stretches from two one-take guitar parts, some trumpet courtesy of Spitfire, a bit of drum and a vocal (very ropey at that because I've still got a cold).

Not sure if I am breaking rules here as not a synth with keys thing but this is my first proper experiment with my new GM 800 guitar synth.
No actual guitar here - everything played on the GM 800 apart from the drum track and all done in about 40 minutes tonight.

Pretty certain that's not a requirement (otherwise I'm out too!) but good work on the track.

I've just caught up on Ben's last 3, Drew's and DaveP's tracks.

Excellent work all round. Ben, you've taken the concept of 'drone' and elevated it to continuing new levels over the last month and it's wonderful to experience as a listener. Drew, your "Just a random bit of concoction" is absolutely epic - especially towards the end!, and DaveP it's cheered me up no end that you've added a track to our little collective and a jolly good one it is too!

VERY well done chaps. I was going to rejoin the effort yesterday but Mrs. D. broke a rib earlier this week and there have been husbandly duties involving trying to make her not get up and do stuff (it's quite difficult!) combined with shop-for-meds runs, tax returns and work-related things which have really scuppered my schedule.

I expect to be back on track the day coming (Friday) and getting something done every day for the rest of the month.

I'm absolutely loving everything I'm hearing on catchup and will be putting out a number of new works before the month is up :clap:

There are a few tracks in my random wibblings this month that have triggered a desire to revisit, develop, extend and reengineer them with a view to making an album involving those works along with some bits and pieces I've been working on behind the scenes recently. Jamuary has been quite the muse this year for me.

24th: "A Journey Back"

(Arturia PolyBrute, Roland Jupiter X, Nord Stage 4, UDO Super Gemini)

Ben that last one of yours was very ominous-sounding (in a good way) and Dave I enjoyed your Eowyn piece a lot! Impressive for a daily jam

Just a handful of days left to Jamuary.

Overall it's been a pretty instructive month -- I sorted out the basic use of polyphrase, though I think I'm still only scratching the surface of that's possible with the unit. I think I only used the 11s or higher settings a couple of times. Totally wonderful performance tool and I'm looking forward to exploring further with it. I also learned how to use the Zoom L-8, though I still have to practice making submixes for use with the quad setup. Based on what I've seen so far, it should be very easy. The unit is great -- easy to use, sounds great, works fine as an SD card reader for retrieving stems, and has a ton of versatility for the price. And I think I have squeezed about as much performance and sounds from the SubH as one could reasonably expect. :D The SubH never fails to impress me with its diverse palette of available sounds, ease of use, and the way it invites exploration. A definite 'inspiration machine'. I also learned that rotary/Univibe effects really suit synth sounds! And for drones, overdrive/distortion is a very useful color.

Really liked the last two jams Ben and it's been an instructive/useful month for me too even though it's been a bit patchy in the second half. The good news is I finally got all my tax paperwork sorted out tonight so I will be doing one tomorrow even though it was meant to be today

Jam 27

The rare return to a minor key for this Jamuary; wind through trees and a whistful generative sequence.

Very atmospheric and I'm quite taken by the generative sequences. I was more minded of a rainstorm than wind in the trees but that's a plus in my book :D

A quick jam from me today, somewhere between a drone and a groove, played mostly live as an experiment with a couple of overdubs to pad things out a bit afterwards in the shape of:

"Mick the Opportunistic Mystic".

(Yamaha SY85, Korg M3, Korg Radias, ASM Hydrasynth Deluxe, Novation Summit)

Isn't it satisfying to see a big 'ol list of jams? :D

Wow, that was so much fun! I was expecting a big Yes-style guitar and drums to come in, so I am glad we were kinda thinking the same thing there. :D

I wasn't expecting the Vangelis-style lead, tho. Almost turned it into fusion!! :D

Jam 28

https://audio.com/don-music/audio/jam-28

This sound-on-sound experiment took WAY LONGER than it should have, turned out just okay, but was super educational. A compositional technique I will most definitely be returning to; I think this sort of thing is polyphrase's strong suit.
