Serious Windows audio issue with Jan update
Re: Serious Windows audio issue with Jan update
Looks like a bit of lazy journalism there. Any decent journalist would have found out what the real issue is before writing an article. My new (refurbished) laptop is running the latest update with no problems on my USB audio interfaces.

Seems to be just affecting interfaces that use USB1.0 to connect, I wouldn't have thought there were that many of them still in use?

This is an example of the lazy journalism that I was complaining about above. Are they actually talking about USB 1.0 or are they talking about class compliant audio interfaces that only conform to V1 of the class compliance spec? I thought that USB 1.0 was very rapidly succeeded by USB 1.1 - even the cheap red/grey Behringer boxes are USB 1.1.

Some of my colleagues had teams audio issues after the update using just the inbuilt realtek audio device. This may not be connected though. I read the article as saying usb1 would be most likely to see the problem but that it is more widespread than that

I have thought that from time to time about TR, to the extent that about the only time I land on their site is when it's a crash land where I clicked by mistake, but was always unimpressed causing me to ponder, irrespective of whatever a web-site claims to be, how do we know the content isn't posted by uninformed individual passing him/herself off as some sort of expert?

Just to add to this thread, my laptop updated to 24H2 this morning (after several nerve-wracking restarts) and, so far, all seems OK audio-wise.
Laptop is 11th gen Intel i3. RME USB interface.
