Hi,
Are there any mini mics that can plug directly into the xlr socket of a mic preamp without a cable? I'm thinking of something similar to the old AKG D58E.
The mic will be used for talkback duties and I would prefer not to use a gooseneck type mic.

There were some mini mics built into an XLR connector - although they often needed phantom power which isn't always available from a talkback connector.

is the sort of thing I'm thinking of.

Went out of business at least 7 years ago.
Reliably fallible.

D58Es aren't too hard to find secondhand. And generally aren't particularly expensive.
Harder to find but just as good (if not better) is the Beyerdynamic equivalent - the M424N(C)
There are also several full sized Beyers and AKGs which, in some versions, will fit directly into panel XLRs.
And there are quite a lot of "comms" mics from the likes of AKG, AT, Beyer, Canford, DPA, Schoeps, Shure, and others, which have captive goosenecks of various lengths, e.g Beyer M640, which terminate in XLRs to plug into panel sockets. They can be quite handy when one wants to aim a panel mounted mic or just doesn't want to have to get nose to nose with a panel to make a noise cancelling talkback mic work properly.
At the more luxury end, a Neumann KM100 body will plug directly into a panel XLR.

Thanks for all the recommendations! The Canford mic looks like it would would fine.
I haven't heard of Immersive Soundscapes and I'm interested in finding out more about these. Where are they located?

Based in France. Apparently there’s a few brands making similar models, mostly used for outdoor ambient recordings. Not a nice as MKH 8020s, but then they wouldn’t would they

Thanks Bob. I'd be interested to know who else is making similar mics.
