Maggie Carter and the Angels

Post by Drew Stephenson »

Those of you who bought the last forum album will already have a copy of this, and those who follow me on Bandcamp (thank you!) will have had an early notification, but for everyone else...

Maggie Carter and the Angels is now on all your favourite streaming platforms.

And the other ones, we don't discriminate round here.

Here's the smart link thing that you need: https://ditto.fm/maggie-carter-and-the-angels

Very nice, Drew! It draws me in to want to find out "the rest of the story".

Nice organ also!

Cheers sir!
I've just had to look up what the organ was as I couldn't remember.
Turns out it was a combination of an old Busilacchio reed organ (like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/116385728363 ... _source=1_ ) and the LostIn70s Hanon hammond vsti.

Lovely work Drew - you have an uncanny knack in creating new music that sounds as if it's from traditional roots yet brought up to date.

As you know Drew, I love this song. The only reason I haven't recorded it as I planned is that I haven't come up with anything that stand's up alongside this version. Simply sublime

Still mourning the loss of my 'Jedi Poster" status :)

I like it.

I noticed that on the YT video, at around 2:16, the text says "still walk" and you sing "will walk".

This is going to be played on the radio on Thursday. Actual FM broadcast radio too (none of your internet radio nonsense). :D
I think that's actually a first for me (though the last band did get on Radio York once as well).

I thought you'd had a previous one on BBC Intro, well done again! That Internet radio nonsense turns out to be very disappointing. Shame.:clap:

Yep, but it was an internet-only BBC station. This time it's actually broadcast radio (x2).

That Internet radio nonsense turns out to be very disappointing.

I'm going to keep an eye on my numbers and see if there are any spikes. There wasn't with the internet-only play so it will be interesting to see if there's any difference here.
One advantage of having a low number of plays is that it's easy to spot cause and effect! :D

Well, you've got your web presence ready for the curious. Your sound suits your local area (as far as I can guess - by comparison mine doesn't at all). Is there anything else 'folky' going on on the night you can try and tie it to?

Not that I'm aware of but I'll have a bit of a shufti. My social media presence has dropped significantly since I decided to dump twitter (a couple of years ago) and massively reduce my Meta use (a couple of months ago) so I haven't really figured out how to replace those channels.

I wouldn't worry about those too much - they aren't connected to anything unless you buy a paid ad.
