Asking for a chap on another forum,
how much trouble is it to open one up to re-solder the pins on the output jack?

Depends on what your ability is, but I’ve taken apart MK1’s and 2’s, and it's very simple to get at the innards, even for someone of my limited ability.

They are built like tanks and everything unscrews. So assuming reasonable competence, no problem.

The MK. 1, at least, is just a few screws and the top hinges up.
Their organs are similar, my HS8 even had a prop rod like a car bonnet.
