Headphones…

Post by Milhauz »

Morning guys,
I am a keyboard player and experimented a bit with logic before on my macbook. I used a scarlet interface before but it did not work well, so I quit the whole thing…
Now I want to restart the recording, playing piano/keyboard with another vocalist. I have no audio interface anymore, only a keyboard with midi and usb connection.
I want to record us both at the same time, which means I need 2 headphones? Most interfaces have only 1 headphone output. Does anyone have experience with a setup like that? Of course I would need another interface..

Yo dudes, stumbled on this lil goldmine called qep.me when I was three beers deep and hunting for that filth my girlfriend swears I watch too much hahaha. Shit man, the front page alone shows tiny previews of chunky milfs getting doggystyled, tattooed sluts deep-gagging cock, plus moms-next-door spreading their trimmed f*** like they're starin at the damn cornfield. Search bar spits out whatever sick combo you punch in-stepmom handjobs, oily big-tit porno, 18yo first-time anal, jeeez even caught some grandma squirting while a younger guy eats her out. Streams fire up fast and all the dire ass pop-ups are minimal so you aint click-closed outta every damn tab. Found this one two-hour bonefest of a house party orgy; four dudes swapping three thick-ass matures, tits swingin, pussies dripping, dude blasting all over their faces like kids gone wild on mid-July. Favorited it 'cause I knew I'd wanna re-watch later when the wife's asleep LOL. Also loads of homemade sex clips posted by regular f*** just like us-a horny Alabama couple banging on the porch, POV lazy-Afternoon pussy fingering, neck n hickies galore. No sign-up bullshit, no credit card spam, just straight free porn buffet. 100%, if your balls need drainin, bookmark that link, crank the volume, and let those cumshots fly.

Morning there,
Quite a few interfaces now have 2 headphone outs, (eg. https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/a ... -id14-mkii). If you’re on Mac still, try using GarageBand, it’s far easier to get going, whilst you get your confidence, and it’s free on your Mac. When you’re getting confident then try again with logic.

I have 2 headphone outs on my interface which are invaluable when I’m recording as I can have different mixes on them to help me. But that’s my approach you just need to see works for you. If you’re still unsure askawsy, there’s lots of (very) experienced folks here that will gladly help you

Best of luck.
Ian.

When I've needed more than one headphone output, I've used the Art HeadAmp 4. It has 4 channels, but I believe each channel can power two sets of headphones: one 1/8 inch socket and another 1/4 inch socket.

Someone might correct me on that last point...

My son and I are each very happy with our MOTU M4 interfaces and so I would suggest the M6 to you which has two headphone outputs with a control for each.
Not important on a mac I understand but the MOTUs have very stable, very low latency drivers, second only perhaps to RME?

For those on a tight budget the Behringer HA400 is really very good.

You've got various options.

The first is an interface with two headphone outs that give you the same mix. Probably the most common setup in 2 x headphone out interfaces.

The next is an interface with two headphone outs that give you different mixes. Definitely a more versatile option than the first one but limits your choice of interfaces as you may have other requirements from an interface.

Mirroring the first option is adding a basic multi-channel headphone amp to a single headphone out interface. This could be driven from the headphone output, or it could be driven from a couple of spare line outputs (if your interface has them). A good way of feeding a common headphone mix to several people (often there are two sets of primary inputs to these rack headphone amps so you can have a choice of two mixes per output - providing your interface has enough spare line outs to drive them - or two 'individual mix'' headphone outs).

The low-cost headphone amps from the likes of Behringer are fine for tracking, but if you use them for mixing as well then it's worth spending more on better quality headphone amps).

If you've got a larger I/O count interface with several line outs and you can see a need to record several people at once, all needing headphones and a need for more of each performer in their own headphone mix, then a most of the rack-mount headphone amps with 4+ headphone outputs can accept a mono 'more-me' extra input to add to a basic mix. So for every 'more me' channel, you'd need a dedicated line output. But that's getting complicated and you'd need to set up extra mono sends in your DAW. So if you've do need extra individual mixes, you'll probably find it easier to use multiple small headphone amps each driven by a pair of line outs.
