Just in case anyone is interested, here's what I'm going for!
two beyerdynamic M 201, for A/B - going to front mic. As my piano is already dark it felt like having a pair of non-ribbons would give me the most options for spacing/sound - and I can darken it up further in the box if needed.

I'm currently limited with the Duet 3, I'm planning to upgrade this in near future to something with more inputs and would love to play around with a third mic. I've found this really interesting looking: Copperphone from Placid Audio.

One day it looks like the dream version of this is to have a pair of MKH40s for the front-mic, and if you'll let me really dream a Royer Labs SF-12 to mix in.

But I've decided to actually get better at recording/peformance for now, and gonna try get the best results I can out of the M201s.

Thank you so much for everyones wisdom, as well as and tips and tricks. This was my first post here - and was a bit nervous to even ask. Everyone is so nice!

The next wormhole is room treatment 8-)

This the way. Performance beats technical wizardry, and learning how best to use and position your mics will beat spending more to improve on the M201s.

Good choice, 201’s, just remember not to be afraid to grab the EQ knobs if things don’t quite sound "perfect" for you.
