Arturia Update
Arturia Update
Just a quick warning to perhaps hold back if you have updates for Arturia pending.
I am on V Collection 10 at the moment and was offered an update for all the instruments which has caused presets to be lost and blank screens when loading instruments.
Have submitted a report to them and sure this will be fixed as anything previously reported was looked at and fixed promptly.
Not a gripe, but just a heads up for anyone in a similar situation.

I've been getting a few updates during the last six months or so that install with no errors, but result in error messages or blank plugin screens when I try to run them,
So I now always keep the previous install until I'm absolutely sure that the update is compatible with my PC, so I can revert to a working version.

Yes same here from v collection 9. What a pain. My installs are on external SSD which I think is not helping. Those that filled an image have no sound or presets. In discussions with Arturia.
It’s a pain.

That reflects my experience, Arturia updates usually go through with no drama, but reading this thread will have me holding off this particular update.
One point I have on another different issue but related. My Arturia Modular V licence is on the eLicencer, which until recently held the licences for my Steinberg products. With the eLicencer becoming deprecated, what's going to happen to Arturia licences held on the eLicencer dongle? And strangely enough my other Arturia product licences don't show on the eLicencer, just the Modular V
Re: Arturia Update
Ah, that IS another worry, especially now that the folder for 'user presets' seems to be buried in a different locations for each and every VST/VSTi.
Where I've spent time creating my presets I do tend to periodically track down their location and copy them to a separate 'Software Presets' folder on another drive for posterity, but it's a thankless task nevertheless.

Loosing sounds now for me is a positive thing, I loose them so regularly it's not even an issue anymore, think about about it as a push to make new sounds that you haven’t used before, after all, I'm used to that, I’ve got a modular.

I have tried the presets fix below recommended by Arturia to save anyone else the bother- still no help alas.

I've tried various "helps" none work.

Re: Arturia Update
To be honest, more often than not if I create any presets while working with plugins within Reaper, I save them using Reaper's own preset system rather than any specific to the plugin, and then periodically back this up to another drive.
On my PC I can find these presets at:
C:\Users\Martin\AppData\Roaming\REAPER\presets
...and while that's a convoluted filepath, saving the contents of this folder currently backs up 366 files, each one containing one or sometimes dozens of my own presets created across a wealth of different makes and models of plugin.

I have a duplicate of all my Reaper folders, also shortcuts to them on my desktop, you never know when you might have to check them to see what’s what.

There's a lot of stuff in the good old C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Roaming\ Folders
And it certainly pays to familiarize oneself with it. Nowadays I back the whole AppData folder up and all so often when I do an update/upgrade I copy in the old AppData folder and sure enough, all my settings have been preserved.
Do Not Try this at Home - Make a back-up of original
=================================
Where I became aware of this was way back when, I'd install a new Cubase, after having backed up various files/folders, only to find Cubase had installed but with all the default settings and then yes it dawned on me, there are default setting in the Programs/Steinberg/Cubase folder, duplicated in AppData and that was the 'profile' a new install accessed. Substituting that with the back-up of AppData/Roaming/Steinberg and then all was intact again.
It also perplexed me when I created a setup, export/saved it, and on starting Cubase(other DAWs are available) again, my setup had vanished. What I had done is exported the settings file to Programs/Steinberg and not AppData/Roaming/Steinberg
I did once pledge to re-construct my file system, so I could drop on whatever at anytime, but I have other things in by Bucket List, which are more realistic endeavours such as performing at the Royal Albert Hall, Headlining at Glasto, tracing the source of the Nile, swimming with killer whales, trekking to the South Pole, encouraging Trump not to have the US decouple from the world, etc I won't mention world poverty as that is not a frivolous concern
Re: Arturia Update
Done a complete uninstall and reinstall via ASC and still no good. Grrr. Has anyone managed it or do I have to just buy version 11!
Re: Arturia Update
Well I did it eventually. I’m not convinced the preference to install on an external disk in ASC helped matters. So a very manual deletion of all Arturia components including ASC and reinstalled to local disk managed it. Not great but everything now works including all presets. Although my presets are gone but I only do init presets anyway on synths. The support team are on the case so I’ll drop them an update to see if they can advise. Anyway there you go. Some of the CPU loads are a bit high for some reason on my M1max but it is what it is. The Solina convultional reverb remains a CPU no go zone (on my system at least) but I’ve plenty of other reverbs that can more than cover that.
I’ll probably freeze my Arturia system now.

Back to actually playing…..

Glad you got things sorted. I guess the same faff for me now.
I had hoped this would have been smoother as it seems Arturia have moved the spec here as before now everything was plain sailing.
Re: Arturia Update
So, back up and running after a support mail.
They sent me a file and terminal command to fix things which unfortunately did not work for me but copy and pasting the presets to one level up in the "Factory" folders did the trick.
It looks like the ASC put the presets further down than the instruments were expecting.

Re: Arturia Update
I regularly have issues like this, because when many installers ask where you want to place the files, I always put them into an individual developer-named folder.
Some of them follow my instructions; others decide to add their developer name after my folder destination, so the files end up in a new folder named Developer/Developer.
