Don’t know the quality, but got to be worth a go, they are about 50% cheaper than the competition.

I tried to buy a mic from AliExpress. Three times I entered my details only to be thwarted when it came to entering my B card details.

Luckily a chap on another forum took pity and got one for me.

Fair enough.

…and they are *very* colourful. People pay a lot for colourful compressors, why not inner-k’nex?

I must admit to having my own foibles in this regard, and cheap foibles are my favourite.

The idea of stacking 3.5mm plugs makes my inner engineer quiver and shrink into a dark corner, sobbing gently.... :wtf::lolno:

+1 - the additional strain on the socket is worrying, plus the extra length of plug hanging out of the socket is an accident waiting to happen.

Mult's are good, I use them, but in the heat of an inspired patch anything goes, and stackable's are a great back-up, in the world of modular quality and reliability of cables are way down the list of requirement’s, its amazing if you have a patch with loads of stackable's in it, you just have to move one lead and it triggers all sorts of things!

Yeah, I used to use a rake of stackable 4mm "bannana" plugs for test rigs but 3.5mm plugs? I hate the feeble things for single use, stacks? No fear.

I was skeptical about 3.5 plugs and almost went for a quarter inch 5U set-up before I started in Eurorack modular, but honestly, no issues whatsoever, and reliability is the same as quarter inch. Stackable quarter-inch? now there’s a real horror show!

My mults got a good workout yesterday, this patch used almost all of them. :D

Still quivering here... I'd be using mults rather than stackables, just to preserve the contact spring tension in the sockets.

I don't care about lead reliability. Changing leads is cheap and easy..

Changing knackered sockets with intermittent contact because the contact springs are bent is neither.

I've got lots of mult's, but, now and again iif you start a patch with stackable’s, it suggests patches that wouldn’t be obvious using a mult, it encourages me to be more adventurous I guess.

I used to know someone who hated spending money, as mean as f**k, multiples were a waste of money, his patches were terrible, as they rarely worked as they should, he used to stack loads on top of one cable, and when you moved a cable the whole lot crackled, and you had to be careful when moving knobs that you didn’t touch anything, total madness and not good.
I never stack more than once, and use multiples when possible, but stackable’s are useful, when used in moderation.

I agree with that approach - I use the odd Tiptop stackable when creating sounds on my Korg MS20 mini, because that doesn't include any multiples.

I also agree with the cognoscenti that stackables do result in slightly more stress on patch sockets, and that if you have a modular then adding multiples make perfect sense, but that isn't an option for me.
