iPad Apps for Reading Chord Charts ?

Post by Will-m »

Anyone know of an iPad apps that will allow me to copy chord charts using the iPad camera, and then to put them in order for a set list? I play in a band backing a lot of different singers and they usually bring their charts on paper. It would be handy to just to photo copy these and have them in different folders in the iPad for each singer.

Can't you just take the photos and store them in named photo albums?

So why not do just that? No need for a special "app".

You don't have to write songs. The world doesn't want you to write songs. It would probably prefer it if you didn't. So write songs if you want to. Otherwise, please don't bore us with beefing about it. Go fishing instead.

Evernote has a document camera and a filing system which lends itself to many interpretations. Notes are arranged within notebooks, tag system is well suited to whatever makes sense to you. There's an audio attachment function designed for recording meetings/lectures while you make notes which is then saved along with the note. All can be emailed at will and synced across devices via free cloud account (if memory serves).

For Android CamScanner is pretty good.

It can't make a chart from a photo, but Chord Craft is a great app for iPhone, iPad and Mac. You can use all of the features for free so it's worth trying out. It has a huge song library. You just have to know a song's title and maybe the artist's name and it will find the chord chart for you. The app has all the things you would expect, like Transpose, Autoscroll, Print, and Export to PDF. You can create set lists to plan a performance. You can view guitar chord diagrams too!
