Hi, I have Studio One 4 & Audient ID14. If i open the ID mixer and Studio One 4 at the same time i can compare the levels.
ID mixer show levels just below clipping and in the Studio One 4 i can see much lower signal like -12db.
Add gain to make it clip:
-ID mixer shows clipping correctly
-Studio One 4 not showing clipping and not even hitting near -0db
Strange indeed... Is it Audient issue or Studio One issue...
DAW and AI meter differences
Re: DAW and AI meter differences
As you said, the Audient mixer shows clipping correctly at the interface.
So that suggests the signal is being attenuated as it travels through studio 1, either due to fader or pan settings, or because of plugins in the signal path.
... or because the meters are using different algorithms or have different references (eg, peak in the Audient and RMS or VU in the DAW).

I've got the ID14 manual open and without having the unit in front of me and running to hear the results, some of it isn't as clear as it could be.

The ID14 input metering software should be accurate, but there's more software as part of that package that looks like it could be doing something to the signal passed to the DAW.
For a start, have you got the DIM function in the mixer software activated? This might be set for a 10dB output level reduction (although adjustable) in the 'output level', but I'm not sure if this is just the monitor output level from the ID14 or also to the DAW.
Can you describe what you are recording and how you've got the ID software faders set and any balance positions?

Reliably fallible.
