Yamaha AW16G help needed
Yamaha AW16G help needed
So I've recorded a song with guitar and vocals on the stereo track, saved it, and created a CD. Before I burned the CD I liked the way the song sounded through my headphones. After listening to the CD, though, I wish I had emphasized the guitar track a little more. Question: can I somehow go back and edit a specific track of the song I recorded on the stereo track and then create a new CD, and if so, how do I do that? Thank you
Re: Yamaha AW16G help needed
if it’s your AW16 and you haven’t deleted any individual track files then you’ll certainly be able to remix it with the guitar a bit louder.
If you’ve only got the mixed stereo track then you’re rather stuck.
There is software that is pretty good at pulling apart tracks into individual parts like drums, vocal, bass and a general ‘others’ track. But you’ll really need a computer with DAW software to remix any stems the software creates.
Afraid I’ve never used an AW16, nor am I an expert on the best stem separation software, whether done on-line or running on your own computer.
It would help if you can tell us if you simply want to remix the song on AW16, or whether you just have the stereo track to play with.

Reliably fallible.

I’d start another thread asking if anyone on here would be prepared to have a go at splitting the stereo track up into stems and bring up the guitar a bit if they can. People here tend to respond to new threads more than a request added to the end of an older one.

All is not lost. Nowadays there are some very decent tools for separating out a stereo mix. If you are only after a fairly small change in balance between the voice and guitar then I'd suggest using the Ultimate Vocal Remover software
https://ultimatevocalremover.com/
with the Demucs process and the htdemucs_6s model. You don't need to change any other settings apart from selecting the input file and the output folder.
You can then import the results into your favourite audio software and adjust the levels of the separated tracks. The model that I suggested includes a guitar track which usually works well on acoustic guitar but you may find parts of the guitar spread over other tracks - particularly the percussion track if you used a pick.
I find I'm doing this kind of thing very regularly at the moment and the state of the art of source separation is continually advancing.
PS - if we are just talking one song then send the file to me and I'll run it through UVR.

I too have had to split a track into stems and the results were way past expectations, to the extent where I wondered “How do they do that?”
To the OP. The Aw16G has the ability to transfer tracks over USB to and from the computer, I used to use this as back-up when I had one of the AW machines. I once had the AW2400, which I have fond memories of
