AI Music Is Exploding on YT (Probably on the other Streamers)
Re: AI Music Is Exploding on YT (Probably on the other Streamers)
That is a tautology isn't it? Everything depends on an individual situation - we live in a world that is contextually bound, hence the great variety of life, what happens in one circumstance might be irrelevant in another, without that happenstance life would be unbearably predictable and our coping strategies would never be put to the test. Yes of course there is a case for predictability too, depending on whatever circumstances can be factored in, I would like to be able to predict the winning ticket in the Lotto, but there's one thing for, apart from death and taxes - I won't pick the winning number.
This is where AI is just a subset of 'Intelligence' as a whole, there are many different kinds of intelligence, and then there's just dumb luck.
Hugh's pointy about the value of things beyond our existence is to the point, those that survive us might well want things they cherish. AI might not 'get' that, but our emotional intelligence does. There is our physical presence here, but we can also have a conceptual presence too. Those around us decide that though, not ourselves.

Very witty and clever... but terrifying in equal amounts when you realise nothing is real, and nothing was created by direct hooman creativity.
You can still spot obvious AI flaws here and there, but it's extraordinarily good already. Very convincing.
Excellent when used to entertain at low cost, as here, but in the hands of Dr Evil it could do no end of damage...

Fantastic and incredible that one person can turn this out in two weeks (with some software and the help of untold amounts of GPU rendering energy and infrastructure/environmental costs etc), thanks for sharing.
Interesting, regarding the “filmmaker”, I believe that “Hashem Al-Ghaili” could be translated as “expensive G-d”… (edit: and is it “Al” with an uppercase letter “eye” or a lowercase letter “el”?
What’s most amazing to me though above all this is still the human ability to comment on their experience and push it beyond something seemingly mundane and into the meaningful, mystical, dare I say spiritual, realm of “art”.
Re: AI Music Is Exploding on YT (Probably on the other Streamers)
Whose commenting? and is this really meaningful mystical and spiritual art?

hi all,
here's another AI YT channels of decent music (here it's noir surf). YT just put it on my feed and when I saw it was posted today, I went to their YT channel page and saw 6 albums of 60+ minutes each, all posted in the last 6 weeks.
https://youtu.be/Thc40XpI-y0?si=O2BsBbBNmSnyaT3M
BTW, there's a lot of attention to an AI band called Velvet Highway (IIRC). Rick Beatto did an analysis, Fil from Wing's of Pegasus refused to play their music but critiqued the artwork, etc. It's gotten 800,000+ plays/month for the last few months on Spotify.. Now a lot of people are wondering if Spotify created/owns the Velvets. This may be the future unless the lawsuits about AI outfits like Suno and Udio using copyright music to train their AIs are successful,

You can clearly hear how the AI has used low-grade MP3 material to train on - the lossy NR leads to severe artifacts.

Re: AI Music Is Exploding on YT (Probably on the other Streamers)
Hi all
Here's a YT vid where the guy updates us on the latest Velvet Sundown (I was wrong when I called it Velvet Highway, although I think mine is better - their's sounds like a cocktail you drink when they're out of fuzzy navels) news, which is an official admission they're AI.It would be amusing if whoever is behind this asked its favorite AI to write an admission statement/confession and that's what they posted The current betting is that it's Spotify itself, testing the waters for inhouse created music content. The rationale, of course, is the oldest in the book: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Any content created by an AI that Spotify can induce people to play is content they don't have pay their derisory royalties. And VS is them testing the water. The Top Internet Lawyer lady says that the IP is registered to a 3rd party holding company. She also did a search of Spotify playlists on which VS songs are included and that the number is way to high to be anything but a bot creating and managing the playlists in question. What's funny is that some of the playlists are supposed to be songs from some movie, and the bots included VS in soundtracks from 1980s movies.
In the post below the point is made that Spotify may not care that it can't get copyright for the AI songs, since all that would get them is the right to sue IP infringers, and these AI groups are just designed to be attractive nuisances, as the law might call - honeytraps, in another context. Use and discard, in other words. Not too different than the music business when you think about it. Anyway here's the new vid on the continuing adventure of Velvet Sundown.

Just another way of getting free publicity - use an alarmist, controversial headline and sit back and watch the clicks come tumbling down from the heavens. Who cares whether the music is AI or organic, it's still formulaic, a robot looking for it's soul

dubbmann wrote: ↑Sun Jun 08, 2025 8:00 pm Hi all,
I've noticed over the last 3-4 months that a lot of music YT videos are being recommended to me in genres I listen to (chill, trance, krautrock, world,..) frequently. If you dig a little in the description of the artist, there's usually a disclaimer that all the details being shared are fictitious, etc. These tend to be instrumental pieces, and more often than not it's a bunch of similar sounding songs strung together, very similar in instrumentation, tempo, and 'vibe'. Also, few of these songs are older than 1-2 months. I'm sure if I listened to rap or old blues or country I'd be getting recommended AI-created songs in those genres.
A few thoughts about this brave new world that's breaking over our heads. First, I have to say that much of the music is quite acceptable, some is quite good. If you're used to listening to electronica collections from the likes of Oakenfold, Sasha & Digweed, etc you'll be pleasantly surprised, I think. The give-aways tend to be the 'sameness' of the 5th or 6th song in a playlist you've clicked on. After that you realize that these songs likely came from identical or very similar prompts. Second, it seems these are being recommended because the people who create them are paying Google to promote them. I'm getting way too many showing up in my YT homepage feed to be random, especially as I don't click on that many of them. So if somebody is paying that's a pretty good sign the videos are lucrative for somebody. Definitely Google and probably the 'artists' themselves.
This poses an interesting conundrum: is this AI Music harmless to real musicians? There are finite listeners who have finite time to listen. As AI generated music proliferates, will it crowd out real music, especially in areas like electronica where it is already challenging for musicians to establish a unique, identifiable sound that can earn enough money to buy gear if not quit your day job? Will AI-generated vocal music ever be accepted, especially if the AI generates an avatar as well and an entire persona? William Gibson wrote several novels where a principal character is an AI-fronted avatar called Idoru, and he writes about other characters interacting with it like it's a person. Will the kids accept this?
What are your thoughts? Have you been seeing the AI Music thumbnails? I don't do Spotify or any site other than YT. I'm curious if they've been overrun with the AI stuff.
Cheers,
d
I would argue real musical artists died out already. Who dominates the top of the charts? Absolute untalented trash, propped up by a team of editors, singing songs (if you can call that singing by the end of post-pro) that someone else wrote most the time, not musicians, "Stars". Songs created by teams that are basically all electronic samples. AI is already being used by all the major players anyway.. why even think about gatekeeping it from the plebs?
Don't you realize they WANT you to shame the common man for using AI while the big players make the most of it?

Actually, I kind of agree with some of that. ...to an extent. But, gate-keeping? Seems to me like they're trying to sell as much "AI" as they can, to anyone who's buying.

Okay so here's my other thought though.. I know there are plenty of musicians that are very talented and famous...
Um.. What exactly are 99% of them doing with all that glorious fame and wealth? I believe that art is equal parts talent and intention. I hate modern artists who do bs gala events for rich donors.. I like well-intended street graffiti.
I hate Harry Styles not because he is talented and famous, I hate him because he threw a party on a yacht on an ocean this weekend while the world is burning.
I will use AI to bring my voice to life and I assure you it sounds a hell of a lot better than you think it does, especially after post-pro. If I ever find myself lucky enough to get anyone's attention with it, it won't be in an attempt to make myself another useless rich or famous person, it will be to raise money to build homes, which is what I do for other rich buttheads on a daily basis.

Yeah and IMO the intention is to make a bunch of money of the common person, flood the internet with AI crap, force a crackdown on common-man AI content(and make people hate anything obviously AI) then they will centralize it's usage with the big players and integrate it into their production process, and by the time they start releasing "digital artists" (which by the way, a hologram of an anime girl has been the #1 musical start in Japan for YEARS) and make it acceptable again, of course the rules will change for them, and the monopolies will once again be miles ahead of us all.
That's my opinion.

On a micro level sure.. but on a macro level you couldn't be more wrong and there is no other way of looking at it. It's a statement of fact not opinion that if the wealthiest and most influential people in this world led by example the masses would follow suit.. we know this because they already do.. it's just a poor example.
These are the people other people idolize.. if I'm supposed to feel bad about taking up some of their air I never will. This entire AI debate will come to a full halt once people stop confusing the word "real" with the word "struggle".
You want everyone to have to struggle to produce music... why? I have struggled enough in life.. I'm lucky to be alive 4 times over. All I want is to translate 20 years of notes into something that can motivate or inspire or relate to someone. AI has never touched my lyrics and never will.. I have 100's of hours of meta tagging and experimenting and literally 1000+ generations of the same song in some instances, just to find the exact sound I have in my head. My words are as real as it gets and my intentions are far more real than most of the stars..
With that said... Of course I would love to work with someone and make everything 100% hand-crafted, but I have no one, and those who I have met, have their own preferences in style, which makes it less and less me anyway..

We should all lead by example, not just the influential and wealthy, and what form do you want this example to take? I see none of this is fact, it's just us putting forward idealised views about the world, in my case I believe that people will do what they want to do and they only follow others if they think there’s something in it for them, like money, a bigger house, a new car, the latest TV, ecology, caring for and helping others others locally and globally, sadly, aren’t priorities for those who see gangsters and politicians living luxury lifestyles, what they want is to be like them, they want the bling, they "value" nothing else, and if we do we have absolutely no power to change anything, look around at those that run our country, would you trust any of them? I wouldn’t, they are only there to help themselves, they took our land, we pay "protection money" in the form of taxes, and they dangle carrots in front of us to keep the whole farce on the road.
A cynical view I admit, but I can’t see things any other way, we just have to do what we think is best and consider others as best as we can.
