New mic preamp
Re: New mic preamp
Totally agree. You get a lot for your money in the EC2. It's my go-to preamp, especially for vocal work as it has everything you need in the one box.

Like the ISA, the PureDrive preamps have two gain controls. The stepped one maxes out at 65dB but there's also a ±15dB trim control, so the PureDrive in fact also offers up to 80dB gain.

Thanks Sam, but I’ve ordered the Focusrite, should arrive next week, I'll keep you posted.

I am the happy owner of 2xCamden-500's They are great! Clear as a whistle, low noise, lots of gain. You can overdo it on the cream/thump pretty easily, so I typically track with that off. I've yet to buss out a stereo mix through the cream/thump circuit, but that might be a fun experiment. These are great value preamps.
