dB Warning Indicator

Can anyone recommend a device that would flash in a studio whenever the decibels get over a certain level?

Budget?

There are industrial devices for doing that, but the ones I've seen are a bit under £500 e.g. https://www.noisemeters.co.uk/product/n ... n/ns-warn/

Also, there's the difference between long-tern levels and peak levels. These meters tend to be for peak level, so need to be set significant higher than the lower value for longer term exposure. Peak levels for say a snare drum can be very high, but the longer term exposure level from that is much lower.

So you need to know whether you need a time averaged warning or you are content with peak values.

Reliably fallible.

Specifically, these:

Things like the Sentry Noise Controller and SoundEar are quite commonly used.

What exactly are you trying to achieve? Meter/control systems like these aren't cheap. It may be that you simply need to calibrate your monitors for your listening environment...
