It's that time of year again -- Jamuary is only 6ish weeks away and closing.
Will anyone here be participating? I am thinking I will use Jamuary to either start learning VAST synthesis on the K2000R, or perhaps I will tinker with the big SIG/Lyra-8/Buchla jam station?
I've been heavily encouraged to join in this extravaganza by Eddy Deegan, who I've just noticed has been typing while I was typing and beaten me to agreeing to take part

It is a wonderful thing to do and is indeed good for the soul. I'm storing ideas in my head and the voice recorder on my phone already
lol me, too -- I've begun trawling YT for some interesting spoken word clips.

I'm familiar with the site as I've used it to practice film scoring. However, I've never thought to use it as a source of spoken word! Thx for reminding me!

I think I get it, but can you just repeat the premise of Jamuary again!
It's an exercise where you create and post something original every day (or for as many as you can) for the month. It doesn't have to be polished, structured or finished just something original created on the day.
It's a great way of forcing yourself to try different things and whereas it can feel like quite a lot of pressure when you're doing it (especially as the month progresses) you may well surprise yourself with some of the stuff you come up with.
As the pieces don't have to be polished or finished it's also a great way to focus on being creative; you get your piece to some point then call it a day and move on.
One big benefit for me was that it resulted in a fresh pool of sketches and ideas (linked below in my sig) that I'll likely draw from to develop properly at a later date.

Great idea! Don't think I was a subscriber last year. Well up for anything that forces me to get off my butt and write stuff
My goal for Jamuary is to have fun and not worry about whether the jams are good, bad, or other. If I stumble across something that warrants exploration, fantastic; but I don't view it as an idea hopper, personally.
Musically, I am routinely smoked by Eddy and Martin so it's best not to take it too serious! This is a great source of inspo for me, as I get to see masters at work under pressure!
Unfortunately, but actually very fortunately, I'll be in Key West engineering the 43rd annual KW Literary Seminar for 2 weeks and editing many hours of presentations and panel discussions afterwards. I'll try to get a few days in, though.

You're not smoked in any sense by me and Martin Ben, though I concur that Martin is a mix maestro. I come back time and time again to your works in my collection; "Her Eyes The Sun Her Mouth The Flame", "Golden Disc", "Sun Gods In Exile", "Galactric Entropy" etc. I'm greatly looking forward to hearing what we collectively come up with in the new year
I've just noticed this is in the keyboard bit. Anyone mind awfully if I get involved with guitar-y music? (Seems kinder than subjecting anyone to my keyboard work )
Happy to use multiple effects to make guitars sound weird, of course!
As far as I’m aware, Jamuary has the simple goal of creating a new piece of music each day. Although I believe the idea originated with those who own modular synths, there are no such restrictions on our Jamuary project, so guitars, trumpets and nose flutes are all perfectly permissible.
As long as it’s musical (ooh, there’s a debate forming!) I personally say the more and the more varied contributions the better.

If I follow through with my plan, I will be using guitar as well for some Frippertronics!
