I have a way of dealing with people like that.
I launch into a really excited very detailed monologue (of basically rubbish), and the more negative their response the more 'encouraged' I sound. They give up in the end, and if our paths cross again later they never mention the subject :bouncy:

Seemingly no longer an 'elderly'.
Now a 'Senior'. Is that promotion?

Well I came across an ex-demo Vongon Parallels II at Vintage King for a good price, so bought it.

Very pleased and does exactly what I was looking for. Random movement in the stereo field with a touch of resonance adding to the fluidity. Boring drones instantly come alive.
