Might be local to our old "New Theatre" Tom? A raised platform from which effects were done. Gram deck, starting pistol...Is the term "cyc" familiar to you? Mind you, it has been over 50 years since I mixed with theatrical types!

By the time I did any theatre, we had MiniDisk for effects, not a gram deck :) Never heard of "cyc" what is that?

Cyclorama (Cyc) — an often tensioned, curved curtain or backdrop designed to give the impression of an edge-less space. Sometimes called an infinity wall if built into the wall itself. The absence of visible corners allows seamless lighting effects to emmulate the sky or, in TV, to provide a smooth, consistent chroma-key backing (usually lit with blue or green light).
