Best closed back headphones for recording vocals?
Best closed back headphones for recording vocals?
I've heard great things about the Sony 7506's, but specifically for vocals, I was wondering if there are any other closed-back headphones which could be better.

Sennheiser HD25's* here. The seem to have a good rep for 'best in class' sound isolation which matters for vocals but they are a little more expensive than those Sonys.
* avoid the HD25 Lite, the new version claims the same technology as the standard versions so may be ok but the old version was cheaper but not as good.

The 7506s are okay-sounding, and reasonably robust, but I wouldn't describe them as particularly great headphones. More competent, practical, and affordable. There are higher quality options, albeit mostly at greater cost.
Do you have a particular budget in mind?
This roundup goes back 7 years now, so the prices won't be accurate , but most of those models are still available.

I'm a fan of Beyerdynamic DT770 personally.

I have several AT M50x exactly because of the good isolation. I also have one DT700 and it works just as well. Never tried the HD25 but if Sam recommends them they surely do.

I have the Beyerdynamic DT250 and the Audio Technica ATHM20. The Audio Technica sounds a bit harsher than the DT250 but isn't bad for the money. The DT250's are a studio stalwart and have lasted for around 25 years in various studios that I've had. I also have a pair of HD25's which I use for all kinds of things. They sound more hifi than the DT250's but when recording vocals I prefer to use over the ear rather than on ear headphones. You may have a different preference though.

I'm a very happy user of the AT M50x, most of my listening for the last 2 years has been with them. And that includes a lot of music that I have been listening to for several decades on multiple systems.

I have Shure srh840 and Sennheiser hd25 that I like to use for tracking. The Shure are more comfortable for longer and are a bit more immersive which is good for gentle stuff but the Sennheiser are more focussed and forward in the midrange for accurate pitch and timing, albeit you need to carry your emotional context with you, if you know what I mean.
I like to record vocals with one ear on and one off so that I can keep a close watch on what's coming out of my mouth (also means I don't really need much/any in the 'phones). In this case there is a temptation to turn the 'phones up and the added focus of the hd25 means this is less necessary.
If you do buy the hd25 and you'll be the only one using them treat yourself to the velour pads.
Yummy.
