Hi!

There's a lot to know and a lot to learn in order to make psy trance.

I'd recommend you check out this forum http://forum.isratrance.com/forum-equipment-and-music-creation/
It's a forum just about making psy trance :)

For me, in order for it to be "psy", then it must be curious and interesting, so tons of modulation, automation and LFO's are a must ;) Most used control for this->filter frequency! Play with it and record yourself :)

As a very basic starter, try a one note bass (kick, wow, kick, wow) between your kicks and
some gated strings, this is Psy Trance 101, lol. Also try a delay on your kick to get a
"bom de be, bom de be, bom de be" thing going on. A gross simplification but a start nonetheless, have fun !

What Knocz said - basic waveforms with loads of modulation and effects. No hard and fast rules. Try extreme flanging/phasing, triplet delay and "vowel" style filters if your synth has them.

Buy a sample CD/download from either www.loopmasters.com or www.producerloops.com.

Have a listen to how the loops are put together and mess around using them to build a track. You can always chop the loops up or layer them to make your own. Doing it this way, you get the sounds you need and the freedom to change what you want. A lot of tracks are made this way.

There's a production forum over on Psymusic UK. Lots of tips and people are generous with help. Don't let anyone tell you its just a rapid bassline and some squelchy synths! Psy is easy to pastiche, harder do in a meaningfull, crowd-moving way.
