Auto colour tracks by name- cubase

Post by gingertimmins »

Hi everyone, I would post this over at the cubase forum but everyone there is so busy reporting issues with 9.5 that I think I'll get a better response here.

In reaper I was able to have my tracks colour themselves automatically depending on what I called them. For example, I like guitars to be blue so any track with the name containing "Guit" would automatically turn blue.

Does anyone know if this is a feature in cubase? I'm running 9.5 elements if that's any help.

Thanks guys,
Chris

It's not quite as easy to set up as in Reaper and not quite as versatile, but I believe it can be done — you need to get to grips with Cubase's Project Logical Editor — you choose 'filter targets' in the top section to which you want to apply results, and the actions (eg 'Set Color') in the bottom section. Whether you have that facility outside of Cubase Pro I can't recall off hand.

Great stuff, many thanks! I'll look into it over the next few days.
I've only just come back to cubase and I'm starting to realise just how user friendly reaper is. Cubase does however aid my creativity better which is the important part.

I use both, on a pretty much daily basis. I think user-friendliness is to some extent in the eye of the beholder!

Thanks Elf but the elements PDF manual only goes to P673. What is the wording of what I am looking for?
