Hi there,
Does anyone have the USER instructions for these Spendors? I am trying to find the input sensitivity etc. I have the workshop manual but strangely this does not provide any technical or performance details for the monitor! Any help would be most appreciated.

Re: Spendor SA200
I've had a google rummage and can't find anything from my usual sources either.
Paul White reviewed them here but doesn't give detailed specs or sensitivities beyond mentioning that it is adjustable.
Have you tried contacting the company directly?

Thanks for having a look around. Yes I contacted Spendor, but unfortunately they had a fire sometime in the past before the digital age and they only now have the maintenance manual which is devoid of any technical details other than the circuit schematics.

Hi there,
Could I beg a further indulgence!
Have you any idea if the bass/mid unit was a "general" Spendor unit of the time? One of the pair is showing signs of distress way below maximum output ie distortion and hitting the end stop. The protection is not operating so it must be well below the design limits. If there is an easy swap for then I could keep them going for a while longer, or just have to use them at lower levels.
Many thanks in advance

Re: Spendor SA200
If it's distorting and hitting end-stops prematurely the implication is the spider/surround is failing. Your best bet is to contact Spendor directly to see what they suggest by way of replacement or rebuilding.

Re: Spendor SA200
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I have had a look at the unit and couldn't see anything obvious wrong with the spider or surround. Spendor have suggested a re-build maybe through Wembley loudspeakers. At the moment I am going to keep an "ear" on the problem!
As an aside whilst I had the unit in bits I found the main Tx loose on the backplate so have tightened that up, tidied up the mains wiring routing, and also noticed that the main pcb doesn't match the service manual layout or circuit diagram so the minor additional irritant of a minor mains hum is not going to be as easy to fault find and rectify. Given their age they may just become a refurbishment project shame really as I was wanting to use them as a reference for some designs of my own.
Regards, M
