Don't settle for facts insist on the truth.
So called facts are often tied to a specific place or time or mindset whereas the truth is beyond such vagaries.
If we stuck with perceived facts we'd still believe we lived on a flat earth.
Question everything.

Keep it quiet as if the Daily Mail find out their readers will go into meltdown.

Ages ago. The Ancient Greeks and Egyptians certainly knew the Earth was a globe and a Roman (IIRC) made a very accurate estimation of its diameter.
Reliably fallible.

I think he was Greek - Eratosthenes. He did it by knowing that, on one day of the year, the Suns reflection could be seen in the bottom of a really deep well (meaning that the sun was directly overhead). On that same day he measured the length of a shadow some distance away. The really clever bit was how he measured the distance of the place where he measured the shadow from the well? It must have been a fair distance in order to get a good estimate of the size of the Earth.

Oh, and the Vaporizer was £199 in Dawsons, Warrington, this weekend. Tempting with Christmas coming up.

Re: Fender Vaporizer amps being sold off cheap.
following the recommendation of this forum i bought one of these without actually hearing it first. wasn't really sure what to expect. but i was really impressed - like really. just want to thank who ever it was that recommended it..... i wasnt really thinking about a new amp, but it gives me the sound that i've always wanted and never really realised i wanted. i thought it was gonna be too loud but its fine. it's a bit limited in range (vol, tone and verb) - but the range it does give is so expressive.
it's a little noisy when on (ie not completely silent - but a i am assuming that that is a feature of valve amps). i want it for recording and i think it will do just fine
i say it is a bargain....
cheers RT

The irony is that early point-contact transistors were even more noisy than pentodes, so would 'obviously' never be any good for audio. No, the ultimate was a frame grid triode

Seemingly no longer an 'elderly'.
Now a 'Senior'. Is that promotion?

Re: Fender Vaporizer amps being sold off cheap.
I took the plunge and got one for me at xmas. Andertons were their usual helpful selves.
First impressions (just to make sure it works) are mixed, it seems a bit noisier than expected, the reverb is noisy and franky rubbish. But the bright channel, that is probably worth the £199...
I'm thinking about a few pedals in front of it with an HT Dual providing extra dirt and tone shaping as required, that might get me into a very good place.
So I think the amp might be staying, but I can't imagine they sold many at the original price.

I've never liked a solo violin, you need at least five for a proper fire.
