My problems with the aids are thus...

The right ear produces excess sibilance such that many voices sound like Mr Connery. "Yeshh Misshh Moneypenny". Non vocal sounds, running a tap for example is boarder line painful because of the (percieved) HF boost.
The result of this boost is that it hinders my understanding of dialogue rather than enhancing it.
In case it is thought that I am listening at elevated levels I have an SPL meter handy and Radio 3 is averaging 60-70dBC and I am still getting "Shhara Walker".

The right aid does not do this but produces a 'sub harmonic'. That is a noise well below the frequency of the received sound.

Now it may well be that my ears are too far gone to be helped in anything but a limited degree and the artefacts I hear are the electronics running out of headroom?

Ouch !

I had 2months constant ever so slight pain in my left ear from working on previous album. So I took a 2month break from listening to music until this March.

Probably the electronics for such hearing aids aren't upto scratch on the level of better iem headphones.
Must be expensive to have high quality hearing aids.
I wonder if there is a way to bring to market affordable higher quality hearing aids based on some decent iems reversed engineered.
If anybody could do it would be somebody from ere forum (not me lol).

I made it worse by attending many loud live shows (my preferred genre during my formative years was ‘metal’ followed by fully embracing ‘rave’) and there are times now when it’s so bad I cannot hear myself think.

Aaaah that's rough.

I had something similar when I was 8.
Football stuck on a tree, one of the kids chucked a half brick to get it missed the football missed the other kids brick landed on me head lol split head open a bit, some blood. I've still got a small mark on me head from it.

In my youfff going to night clubs. Listening as loud as possible outdoors.

My partners tinnitus is so bad I don’t know what to do, I feel totally helpless.
She tried a hearing aid to correct her hearing loss, and she said it reduced the Tinnitus, I believe this is simply because "outside" sound is amplified therefore giving the impression that the "inside" sound of the tinnitus is reduced, but it’s only masked.
OK, we’ve been to see a private clinic, that claims to have made an aid based on new algorithms that mask tinnitus more effectively than other types of device, my partner is willing to try anything.
I’d appreciate your opinion on these aids,

She had a hearing test done by these people and it was very thorough, compared to other tests, but I’m wondering about the outcome compared to other more standard tests.
My partner is almost suicidal, it’s really bad, and I don’t know what to do, simple as that, she’s not eating, sleeping, and is unable to relax.
Her hearing loss is "severe" amplifying her tinnitus.
I really am at my wits end.
