You might be right Marsnic, I used to get that magazine, I may even still have the copy somewhere. How times change!

And there it is!

'Musicians have a bundle of talents,' Eno explains. 'Some of them are to do with intelligence, some of them are to do with taste and some of them are to do with muscles... dexterity and physicality. What happened with computerization was that people have ended up using less and less muscles; in fact, they ended up just using one: the one that controls your index finger!

The reason I remembered the article and I guess I'm still a little confused about this, is that Eno's solution to the problem of controlling music with your index finger is a device you control with your index finger. Having said that, I've never tried a kaoss pad and am willing to be convinced.

I guess the difference is that a mouse allows adjustment of just one parameter at a time (unless you've also managed to get a scroll wheel or other buttons to do something) while the kaoss pad allows multiple parameters to be changed in the course of one movement across the screen (I'm told - never used one myself, either)

I think I still prefer a piano, though. Preferably a concert Steinway, though it's a tad bigger and lot more expensive !

I just thought it was pointing out that everybody uses one finger, so they will already know how to play the kaoss pad?

Did Eno write the Windows XP music? Oh no!

The startup chime is OK I suppose, but what about the install muzak?

I think he only did the Windows 95 music.

Don't think there's many composers out there still using that!

Yes, the Beeb don't keep stuff on iPlayer indefinitely. But im sure it's been leaked all over the web by now?! It can't be too hard to track down.
I did download it myself. But i've been unable to compress it to a reasonable size & quality to make it worthwhile giving to anyone :smirk:
