I have also a pair of the 6010a. Better than expected, it's impressive what sound you can get out of speakers so tiny.

I choose the black (dark grey) ones, the white and silver looks like they have been painted and the white ones look like they would get dirty very quickly.

These are very good for the money, a friend has just bought a pair, and I am as well. Studio Spares are doing them for £84 +VAT.
They'll make a good set of speakers for my incredible shrinking stdio ! The perfect "poor" solution

I think I probably will go for the 6010s. Not sure they'll fit in my laptop backback though - but if the quality is as good as promised, it'll be worth the extra bulk. Do they come with a carry case by any chance?

No, no carry case, but they might well fit into an SLR camera bag. Worth trying I think.

I've got the JBL "On The Road" speaker set. They are amazing for pocket sized speakers, if that's what you want. The gennys are hardly portable, and cost as much as a half decent laptop..

do you mean the 'on tour' ones that t4t showed us earlier in this thread? if so, does the cover slide around unwantedly and has the battery catch broken?

These dudes don't have a battery, or a sliding cover, they just give stomach wrenching bass, they aren't very portable, unfortunately, but I love them. You can't beat the laws of physics. Big boxes give big bass, small ones don't.
