In regards to the question "Remix Metallica Death Magnetic" well some bright spark did this all be it a little crude. The Death Magnetic album was released on Guitar Hero and someone managed to seperate the track stems.... and actually went through with snare samples from 'The Black Album and replaced them. The mix is only from about 6 stems but it shows what the album really could have sounded like if they didn't compress the crap out of it. Legal note, obviously its not supposed to be on the net but seriously...if people mixed/mastered albums with the music being treated properly then you wouldn't have people having to mix stems from a guitar hero game to get the album sounding good.

I think I would mostly use a program like that to analyse guitar tracks and vocal tracks, especially in Rock music.

Take all my favourite songs and solo each track, just to hear what made them good/bad.

Also take EVERY popstar (female) and take all effects and listen to solely the take they used dry. To see if it's like un-photoshopping the girls in vogue.
