Boss SE50

For enthusiasts of synths, pianos, organs or keyboard instruments of any sort.

Desmond, an easy start would be to create a new post here on the SOS Forum (has very high reputation and ranks well on Google, I'm told) entitled "Zoom 1201 - the secret weapon?".

See what I did there? Is it question or statement? Who knows. Then, yes, we could start to fill it with all sorts of garbage about the unique "weird tricks" it is capable of - which is guaranteed clickbait.

There's only one downside. We might lose the respect of our beloved fellow SOS Forum Folk, the Mods might even step in, we might be banned...

But you know, if our 1201's both go up in value from £49.50 to £71.95, it will all be worthwhile.

And a YouTube video, with a thumbnail of that question, and my puzzled face in exaggerated "deep thought" pose.

(On YouTube, it's *all* about the thumbnails - the content doesn't matter at all..!)

We've got the makings of a beautiful conspiracy theory. I call it "ZooAnon". (Or maybe "12Onone")

Now who do I call to make a boutique hardware version, a software emulation, and a Eurorack version?

Or a post like -
Did that Zoom secret weapon actually go for 6 figures at auction?
Or
Jimmy Hendrix Zoompedal sells for outrageous amount. (Notice it’s Jimmy, no relation to Jimi)
I obviously missed my calling to being a marketing genius with dubious morals!

I picked up a MidiVerb 11 for £60, didn’t think that was bad, will my Korg Monotrons be worth fortunes after I die? knowing my luck, the day after.

Yes Yes. The more of a idiot you can make yourself look, the more compelling it is.

Erm, just wondering, do you have a CS80 or Jupiter 8 to feed through the Zoom to make it sound a bit better than it actually is? That should bring in a few more punters.

Ah, the key here is that the rarer/more expensive/vintagey the gear you are featuring in your video is, the worse the playing and audio quality needs to be. If you can record it on your iPhone 4, with room sound (preferably from more than 15 feet away) the better.

Vintage VHS camcorder with onboard sound? Perfect for that GX1 through the 1201 video.

Seriously, Keith Emo swore by the 1201, he had whole racks full of 'em...

Pah, My Zoom 1201 cost me £50, but they've become very rare, and are worth a blooming fortune now... But I'm never going to sell it, at any price (PM me if interested in making a ridiculous offer).

Hmm, I need to dig out my 1201, put it back in the rack (it's been stored in a special climate-controlled storage unit that I use for my most precious possessions) and figure out just which plugins it "destroys" in a "night and day" fashion for reference...

Do you know, I think we are successfully redirecting this ridiculous and irrelevant "Boss SE50" thread into something altogether more useful.

Until I retrieve and connect my SE50. By then it might be worth something surprising.. . . .

It might be "worth" using
At least with all this hardware I’m accumulating, I’m not worried about it not working with the next OS update, or a new computer.

Absolutely, Tony. The wiring might sometimes be a headache, but at least you know that if you take care of hardware, its lifespan will likely be measured in decades, not just to the next OS update.

Yeah! Not decrying computers in general, I use them too! but it’s very relaxing using hardware, not having this worry.
I’m on a roll right now, just bagged a Boss RDD10 Delay, I’m over the moon, it’s a great unit, not expensive either, you see, my thread "planting your studio" it came along the same time as the SE50, and it’s made for the half rack space that is sitting next to the 50!
It was meant to be, this is going straight on the end of my Moog Grandmother.
