This guy seems to have a lot of fun with tape - even if there are technically better ways to do things now, fun is good
If you already have EchoBoy, it does excellent tape emulation from cassette to reel, and other strange formats too. Where else can you hear what it is like recorded to oil drum, radio transmitter and BBD?

One of my favourite processors. It can even do the whole envelope cluster lines thingy which is great for faux verbs for low frequencies. Magical.
That sounds interesting, thank you I must look in to it.
It's one of my favourites too, every mix I do has several instances of EchoBoy. Sold off a bunch of hardware echoes years ago, it could do them all.
Finding the "Tape emulation" might be the same as finding the real "Tape" and "Tape deck(machine)". I used to use some Cassette and R2R a little time ago. I gave many emulators a try but now I use the Softube Tape(Plugin) and RND Portico 542 finally because the deck maintenance was a little headache for me. By the way, I still miss the real "Tape" and "Tape deck(R2R)" because they sounded totally different yet than any other emulators. I still clearly remember that sound because I was just left from the real ones 2 years ago. (I had the OTARI MX5050B3 and TEAC 22-2 by the way.) I think the "Tape emulator" is emulating the "Tape saturation" but still not reproducing the "analog circuit".
The Tape(R2R and Cassette) will add something to the sound but it also depends on the circuit around such as an amplifier, tape-head, and so on. I believe it means that involving them as well. It might be a long journey of the treasure hunt which might be the same as finding the "Tape emulator" plugins as well. Just my two cents anyway. Cheers!
