All sorted now. But for reference Plus gas is similar (ish) to WD40 but much better. It’s not a solvent but penetrating oil.
How to Remove Mic Thread Adapter!

I basically jammed a large wide flat headed screwdriver in there as firmly as possible and applied pressure inwards whilst turning.
Mmm, that sounds familiar. Didn't..., someone..., suggest doing just that with one jaw of the pliers two pages ago?
Anyway, sometimes the beauty is in the travelling as much as the arrival.
Well done.

Granted and I did try, but I took you very literally and tried with my pliers which were in no way sized or shaped for the task. My simple brain didn't extend this idea any further!
Had you said 'the large flat red screwdriver in the bottom kitchen drawer' then then this thread wouldn't have run to, ahem, four pages! Impressive nonetheless.

Ah, I see where I went wrong. Well, I'll know for next time.
I like the sound of this, "Microphone Farm", very wise.
Also, "...some mics are more equalised than others".

A classic from George Aural.
Reliably fallible.

Not many forums where you can get 4 pages out of removing a stuck screw! Well done

"The Best" piece of gear is subjective.
Re: How to Remove Mic Thread Adapter!
Now I need to know if it was PlusGas Formula A, B, C, D or E?
I may be mad, but I'd find a book on the history of lubricants and penetrants rather interesting!

Fascinating range of products (here; Canadians love this stuff) from WD-40, 3-in-One, JIG-A-LOO, Liquid Wrench, Permatex, Honey Goo etc.
Or perhaps I don't want to know what's in the cans, and should stick to this formula?

If yes goto Stop

You mean to say that "Goo Gone" doesn't do what it says on the label?

Really? I was told by a pet shop owner that it repels mice.
Dave.
Re: How to Remove Mic Thread Adapter!
Paraffin/kerosene is the main ingredient of a lot of mild sticky stuff removers. It is very good at the job, but then itself needs removing.
Which is a job for Goo Gone Gone…
And then Goo Gone Gone Gone Gone…

Surgical Spirit... and the lingering short-term after-aroma reminds Mrs S of her time as a nurse...

Didn’t The Police have a goo goo lyric and the Beatles?
There was The Goo Goo Dolls wasn’t there.
The local music store keeps Goo Gone behind the counter to remove the gunk from price stickers when you buy gear.
