I'm looking to purchase a new pair of active studio monitors and spend hopefully no more than £300 cos at the moment money is tight at the moment!
I've been looking at a few different models so far ..
KRK RP5 G2 - around £260ish
M Audio Studiophile BX8a - £230
Fostex PM 05 MKII - £275
Alesis M1 620 Active - £300
Has anyone had any experiance with any of these ones or could anyone recommend any others that ive not listed?
any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks:)

Well if you need to just get started then jump in with any of those really. None of them are all that useful for serious, consistent critical listening. But any of them will get you started. I've personally used the older KRK rokits and I think for inexpensive loudspeakers (at the ridiculously low price that they're at) they can suit the task of mixing once you get to know them and provided that you have a properly treated acoustic space to work in. But it will ultimately be a bit of an uphill battle when working with low costing loudspeakers and you will definitely outgrow them as you get more experienced.

Re: budget studio monitor advice
Thanks Liz,
I appreciate it will be an uphill struggle, and i would prefer to go for more expensive ones, because i do agree that i will grow out of them as i get more experienced, however i'm a student at the moment, so ive got alot of expenses!

Try the Yamaha HS50M's only about 215 quid a pair, and they translate beautifully across different systems. I've mixed on them and my mixes sounded great from club systems and car stereos!
