Where does he sell it?

Post by BoogieBear »

Hi Folks

Firstly, please believe me when I tell you that this is NOT a thinly veiled attempt to advertise here on the forum but a genuine request for help

Mods: If this is in the wrong place please feel free to move it

Right then, that said, this is my dilemma

A very good friend of mine has some vintage bass amplification equipment that he wants to sell

It has an interesting history and provenance having been made for a world famous and now deceased musician and he feels that it is closer to Sotheby's in London rather than e-Bay if you see what I mean!

So other than on-line auctions has any one got any suggestions as to how but more to the point where my friend can go about advertising this exquisite and historically interesting bass rig

I'm sorry for having to ask here on the forum but a can't think of any place with such a wealth of expertise that exists here at SOS and this is way out of my area of expertise

Cheers
Anton

You see when I was a young kid Elvis was top of the charts - That's 'Presley' not Costello!

BassChat, or if he's prepared to ship it outside of the UK TalkBass although you'll need to make a donation to become a supporting member to advertise gear to sell there.

Mostly Retired from Audio.... If I already know you I'll help,  if not....    Ask Hugh Robjohns, unless that is you're in need of 80's shred guitar... that, I'm still interested in having fun with...

i reckon you'll actually get a better price on Ebay {if nicely publicized} than Sothebys or any other auctioneer. I've attended quite a few "sit down" auctions over the years with audio equipment and memorabilia - things go cheap unless they're REALLY public interest capturing!

hi, a guy in gloucestershire found an amp in his loft that was owned by Jimi Hendrix. the first thing he did after it's history had been confirmed & before advertising was to go to the local tv station, radio & newspaper to get the media interest going then i think it went to a auction house with loads of interest before it even got there. can't remember what he made on it but it was silly money.
