Roland D50 PlugIn
Re: Roland D50 PlugIn
I think there are copyright problems here...unless there was some "authorised" version endorsed by Roland (which there isn't) you're only going to find dodgy Kontakt libraries on eBay, homemade Reaktor patches (sounds like Dash did a good one before it was pulled - see here) or VSTs that are loosely based on the same principles. Does it have to be a clone, or would you settle for any decent general-purpose VST synth...?
(Incidentally I just noticed an old thread on the subject on KVR which mentions this "P-50" set from Puremagnetik.)

There are most definitely copyright problems here, and I'm surprised that PureMagnetik library (and various others on that site) haven't been clobbered by Roland's lawyers already.

Re: Roland D50 PlugIn
Varios and VC-1 is becoming quite rare and pricey so might be easier to look out for a D550...I picked one up with all 5 Roland ROM cards last month for £277...........I know you were looking for software but it's more compact than the D50 and should hold its value.

Actually I think I have just agreed a deal for a V-Synth XT (with D-50 emulation) so the D550 and cards may be up for grabs....pm if interested.

Ah, that explains why Hollow Sun's Christmas treat is so bizarrely named. Worth picking up if you're not already on it:

Ah, that's slightly different R_A
Yes, since the Juno 6 is still largely an analogue synth with analogue VCFs, VCAs, LFOs and ADSRs (albeit with digital oscillators generating its choice of four waveforms) it can legitimately be sampled.
However, although Hollow Sun can sample this, what he can't do is to trade on Roland's good name and reputation to help sell his own products - this is the reason for the 'disguised' name.

Akshully...
I think the waveforms were proper analogue but digitally controlled.
But yes, while the well known Japanese manufacturer can't complain about the samples, it could complain about cashing on the name hence the euphemism.

Mr Hollow Sun himself! I'm really looking forwards to investigating some of you archaic creations when I am back in my studio. I was delighted to find a company creating characterful virtual instruments that can sit in a sparse experimental mix and not scream for attention.
Apologies to the OP for slightly derailing the thread. I'm afraid I've only tinkered with a D50 briefly a couple years back in the UEA Electronic Music Studios and soon found the interface a little unfriendly... I then noticed a EMS Synthi AKS in the same room

Ah! That way lies madness!
Cut my synthist teeth on those quirky little buggers back in the 70s as a teenager. Fabulous things!
This is my weapon of choice now... the Synthesisers.com modular I built... moistness abounds in abundance!

But we digress!
