Kicking around in the bottom of my box of stuff for the last few years has been a Boss DM3 delay pedal.
As I am having a bit of a sort out I thought I would just check on ebay what they are going for and was very surprised to see only two listed, both being in the region of £200. Actually, very surprised doesn't cover it, I nearly inhaled the coffee I was drinking.
This poor unloved pedal has sat under coils of wires and extension leads for the last 4 or 5 years in my sound box, so I chucked a 9 volt battery in it and it works fine.
Its not in bad condition, so now I have a quandary as I thought it was worth £25 max I was just going to throw it on ebay, but now I am thinking that I might keep it. But its not seen any use for years so I dont think I really need it. I mainly use tube / overdrive type effects and never really played with it much past making strange squeaks and squeals on full echo settings.
Does anybody know anything about these little pedals? are they really worth the money they are listed for on ebay? Does anybody regularly use one?
Many thanks
Phil

The bossarea database is good, but the forum was better - it no longer exists under that name and has moved to stompboxzone.com - I highly recommend posting there if you want your Boss questions answered!

I have no idea what I'm doing.
Re: Boss DM3 Pedal
I've got one which I've been using for years in my guitar FX chain. pretty solid and die hard unit, just like other pedals from boss in that era.
I guess most guys these days use amp\fx applications or add delay later in mix, but still I've found it to be a useful device, specially for live gigs. i wish it could store and remember delay times, but that was too much then. it was still the mid-analog age.
Personalyl I've regreted when ever I let go any stomp boxes or small gadgets like these. there's always been a situation where I've thought damn, wish I'd kept that unit..
so,keep it. they will worth much more, as time pass.

Re: Boss DM3 Pedal
I had one, lovely pedal. I sold it as the max delay time was too short for me, and tweaking it for a longer time lost some of that DM magic.
Bought for £20, sold on eBay for £120 (about 5 years back). Boxed, mint condition - though condition doesn't seem to hold back price much with these.
I must admit I don't regret selling it, occasionally I do hanker after the more analogue sound it gave but I sold it for a valid reason so it doesn't haunt me!
Whether you keep it or not is really up to you - sorry! They are well regarded by players as the last analogue Boss delay, and comparitably much cheaper to buy than a modern "analogue" delay pedal.

I used to look at the second hand pedals cabinet in a huge music store in Johannesburg, they always had dozens and did trades etc so there was always new stuff.
They overpriced everything in general but one day I spotted an old DM2 delay in 100% perfect condition.
I snapped it up for about R400 which was something like £25 - £30 then.
They must have not known what it was I suppose.
I think it was the 1980 version if I recall correctly with the better chip or whatever.
I loved it and used it live for two years until I moved here and sold it for £210.
Decent profit from the whole thing

Don't confuse the price people list them at for what they actually sell for.
It's not uncommon to see a seller list and repeatedly re-list them for for £170, £200 or more without them selling.
If you check completed listings you'll see that £115-£130 is far more common, with the odd one going for £150+ if it's mint (or close to-) and boxed...

Really?
You didn't want it when you thought it was virtually worthless, but now that you think it has some value - even though you say you haven't used it for years and have no use for it - you want to keep it?
Surely discovering it is worth more than you thought - possibly a tidy little sum - would be an incentive to sell it... no?
