Midi foot controller

Hi there, I am looking for a customizable usb foot button to use for simple things like initiating and pausing recordings, triggering it to base drum and so on - like a sustain pedal, only it shouldn't be dependent on a keyboard. The nearest thing I've found, is this

but I don't know if it will be customizable within my sequencer (logic). Is there something more appropriate existing? Will the thing I've linked to work?
