It can make Bob Dylan's voice listenable?

That'd be something. Wonder if they would like to test it to destruction and try it on my voice :-)

It's going to have a special new feature to take a perfectly in tune passage and add "naturalisation" to it to make it more human. There will be presets based on classic singers (but they'll be under code-names for copyright reasons, Motown, Godfather, Deep-throat etc) so you can make your record sound like those classics from the sixties and seventies.
Bob Dylan will be a preset but it will be called AllSettingsToMax

And then Cher will release her new disco hit with a "Dylan-ised" vocal part, and that's it, every "trendy" record for the next decade will be Dylan-ed until people say "Remember that Autotune stuff way back? That was really great..."

It would be easier to fold space.

You jest, I realise, but that's actually an existing feature in v3 — Add Random Deviation. (Not to make something more human, but useful for faking double tracks in a hurry...)

I'm impressed. I've just had my Melodyne Assistant installation upgraded from 2.1.2 to 4.0.1 completely for free. Very nice of them, I have to say.

I thought I remembered reading something like that in last month's issue. All the best lies have an element of truth :¬)

Have you purchased it fairly recently? I've also got Melodyne Assistant but got it about a year ago.

The new sound editor is pretty neat, unfortunately I don't seem to have got the free upgrade. 149 euro for me, looks well worth it though.

I had the lowest level of v2 and it was €149 for me as well, so I went for it and am now on the full monty version with all bells and whistles. Ooh err. Will play with it this weekend.

(actually, I'm thinking of trying feline's idea of sticking in an old multitrack and 'correcting' it to see what it's like .. ;) )

There's been some reports that the sound quality of basic stuff (ie, changing pitch slightly of vocals) has degraded in v4, over v3...

Will you be able to select a popular rock singer's voice to sing your vocal tracks?

Not unless you know the popular rock singer in question and he owes you a favour...

There's already been a maintenance release to 4.0.2. Just looked at the upgrade pricing page and there's upgrade prices for everything except upgrading Assistant in place. So I seem to have lucked out there.

What about if I wanted my vocal track to sound as if Robert Plant was singing it? Is there a Robert Plant preset?

This tool is for fixing pitching and timing in your vocals (and for other creative uses).

What you want is magic - the technology is not there. You want Robert Plant to sing on your track, you contact his management ;)
