In a scene in The Hateful Eight, Kurt Russell smashes a prop guitar. Except that it wasn't. Oops...

Tarantino trashes vintage Martin
Re: Tarantino trashes vintage Martin
Can't get through a Tarantino film. Never could. Too much gratuitous violence just for the sake of it. I think he's an awful director. But what on earth were Martin dong lending one of his projects a valuable guitar in the first place?

Still strictly project but lately on the run.
Re: Tarantino trashes vintage Martin
I'd almost rather have a Martin smashed over my head than watch this film.
I enjoyed Jackie Brown back in the day but overall I'd be happy not to see any of his shtick ever again.
Watched the first 30 or so minutes of Inglourious Basterds and it was so dire it has put me off watching any more of his work.

Not in any way to condone the senseless and needless destruction of a priceless instrument (I know the lenders were *extremely* unhappy about it) but a) it could have been worse (consider Brandon Lee) and b) I really liked Inglourious Basterds. Revolver, on the other hand, was unmitigated garbage IMHO.

This is the bit I can't understand. Why would you have anything other than a prop on set?

Well, it is a Tarantino movie we are talking about. I've always suspected that when it comes to gratuitous violence he has a weakness for the real thing

That's nowt to do with Tarantino, Guy Richie that one.
Is this even QT's fault? Didn't Russell admit to making a mistake during shooting?
To each their own, but I do tend to enjoy Tarantino's films, although I've seen enough cinema to be able to spot the other films he rips off (sorry, pays homage to) along the way, which can get irritating at times. No way on earth is he as violent as some of those other directors mind and at least he knows how to handle dialogue.
