Hello all
As a supplement to my every day job writing and recording string arrangements, I've decided to share a few tips in a new blog on my site. I'm starting with the basics of how to write idiomatically for strings, which will always yield better sounding results, especially if your arrangements will be recorded by live players. So the first post is an introduction to violin/viola left hand technique, and rather than write an abstract wall of text, I decided to make a video.
I sincerely hope you find it useful, and I appreciate any and all feedback. In future posts I plan to look at voicing chords for string, various arranging techniques, analysis of great string writing (both classical and pop/rock), and also production and recording techniques specifically for strings.
