Free great quality Reaper plugins, usable in other DAWS?

Post by alexis »

Hi - I keep reading about some of these, that Reaper folks say are as good as 3rd party paid plugins, but much cheaper (aka free!).

I believe the linear phase EQ is highly thought of. Any others that folks would recommend?

Hi,

I think you can not use those out of Realer DAW and they use ReaScript what only works to Reaper (Reaper developer own code language).

Reaper include following free plugins (64 bit):
ReaEQ : unlimited multiband EQ
ReaComp : highly configurable compressor
ReaXComp : unlimited multiband compressor
ReaDelay : unlimited multitap delay
ReaPitch : multivoice pitch shifting
ReaTune : highly configurable tuner, also supporting automatic and manual pitch correction
ReaVoice : MIDI-controlled multivoice pitch shifter
ReaFIR : FFT-based EQ and dynamics processing
ReaGate : Noise gate with MIDI trigger output
ReaVerb : convolution reverb engine
ReaVerbate : algorithmic reverb
ReaVocode : basic vocoder
ReaSynth : basic synthesizer
ReaSamplOMatic5000 : flexible sample player
ReaSynDr : basic drum synthesizer
ReaSurround : spatial surround panner

I think these plugins are really good, and I use those lot, but in example ReaXComp did not feel "as strong as" FabFilter Pro-MB.... But I get it free and most of the time it does it job very well...

There's a bundle of VST ones for free. And then there are more bundled within Reaper that can't be used in other DAWs. They're largely decent sounding. Though the GUIs, metering and things like fader resolution (often linear when they should be logarithmic) aren't so great. But... try the freebies. Compare them with your inbuilt Cubase ones. It doesn't take long. The best things about Reaper coming from Cubase aren't the built-in plugins IMO but the very flexible routing, particularly multiband slpitting/recombining within the channels, the scripting, and features like subprojects.

If you are thinking about the JS effects then take a look at ReaJS which comes as part of the ReaPlugs suite. This allows you to use JS effects in any VST compatible host.

ReaFIR is a superb fingerprint noise reduction tool.

If you have some nasty guitar based buzzing, this will wipe it out really well.
