This.
I've known Bernard and Allison who are the main people behind this for a long time, and they have spent the best part of ten years making this series. Not only have they done a huge amount of research into the history of the music itself and the people who made it, but there is an absolutely fascinating music technology angle too (which I won't give away here). I haven't yet seen the full series but I am expecting it to be something special.

Why do bad things mostly seem to happen to people who light up a room when they enter it?

Oh I will be glued. Cos of Sam's link I went to the BBC site, cos of the BBC site I decided to give Rhiannon Giddens a listen. That lady is an incredible talent.

Looks great, but not available outside Britain. You guys paid for it. You guys enjoy.
(Update: Actually, BBC stuff crops up on Youtube regularly. I'll probably get to see it.
