In the tool bar there should be a window with 3 buttons to reveal/hide the bottom, left and right panels. If it's not there, click the toolbar settings and select "Window Zone Controls".

Look in the top right hand corner of the screen. There are three buttons allowing you to show or hide the left, right and lower zones. You need to hide the right zone.

Brill! You chaps are great! That worked.

Can I ask you one more? I get sound on Cubase so no probs there. But if I click on a sound file on my desktop or wherever, it wants to play it in iTunes - which is fine but there is no sound coming out. But there is in Cubase if u see what I mean.

Any ideas? I am quite new to all this Mac shenanigans :)

Thanks again.

right button - "open with other" (or something like that) - choose the app you want and tick the box in the bottom that says "open always with this app" (or something like that)

If you have a multi-channel audio interface, Windows invariably chooses a digital output as 'default' over an analogue one. It has something to do with the timing of when Windows can see the outputs available to it at start-up. So take a look in Windows' sound control panel and see where it is sending your audio.

You need to set the output under the system preferences - sound

One month on and I am happy to report that I am very much liking my Mac Pro/Cubase 9 experience. In this time I have had just 4 crashes in Cubase. I think they may be Kontakt related issues.

Everything just loads so quickly. A real delight to use and very glad my PC died when it did!

Cubase Prov9 - highly recommended.

Anyone else using MP and C9? Be interested to hear your experiences.

Glad that you got it working but if it happens again there is another place you may wish to look. Go to Devices - Device Setup-VST Audio system and click the button that says Release Driver when Application in Background. This may just be a PC thing though so feel free to ignore!

Thanks Andy.

I didn't have to do that on my Mac/Cubase scenario. However, I think that was the issue why Sibelius First didn't play any notes as there is a release driver box on that and I had to do something or other to it to get some sound.

I am really wishing I had gone Mac 10 years ago.
