Hi,
Looking for some info and advice from TR8 users on here.
I am going to be incorporating this into my set up using Ableton Live for composing and recording beats on the fly. I understand this is connectable by USB and can record all tracks separately. Ive read you have to set the TR8 as an interface in order to do this, which is fine, but I assume I will still be able to set my Scarlett as an output for monitoring reasons when recording? Also I still assume i am able to midi out into Ableton and use the TR8s sequencer for my own samples?
Can anyone also explain the pattern save functions to me. I know there is no "save button" but how are patches stored and returned to?
Also looking for advice as to how you would/do incorporate this gear into your systems. Its great to hear others perspectives on how this equipment is used for inspiration.

When it comes to the audio side, you'll need to say whether MacOS or Windows as the answer is different for each. On the Mac you can create an aggregate device with the TR8 and your existing audio interface, however the TR8 only runs on 96kHz sampling rate, so if you normally run at 44.1 or 48 then you will either have to up your existing interface's sample rate or set the TR8's inputs to be resampled.
The MIDI side of things is simple - you just get extra MIDI ports available.

Will be using on windows - im guessing it depends on wether my audio driver will let me use separate devices for input/outputs

It would help if you gave complete system specs from the get-go instead of dribs and drabs throughout the thread. Aggregate devices can be set up on Windows, depending on OS version.

Windows 10 on latest update, ableton live 9. Apologies I obviously didn't understand how this was going to work and therefore that it be required...

Not required, just helps you get better/quicker answers. Instead of asking for the info, a lot of people who could help don't respond as they've typed volumes in the past that were moot as they were based on guesses as to system setup, etc.
W10 does allow you to set up aggregate devices, but your DAW has to be able to use WASAPI as well as/ instead of ASIO.

I'm pretty sure WASAPI isn't comptible in ableton live. I will trawl through some YouTube videos tonight to see if there is an easier routing option. If so might just be a case of tracking them and sticking a pair of headphones in for monitoring.
