Coffeelake i7 8700K and i9 7920X benchmarks ahoy

Post by Pete Kaine »

I've been hunched over the bench again this week. Intel's new mid-range 6 core is with us, as well as their decidedly high-end 12 core option finally appearing in front of me.

Check out the benchmarks below:

Thanks Pete for remembering to keep the images below 1920x1080.

These CPUs are looking really solid for DAW usage and other tasks.
Thanks for sharing.

Surely they are duty bound to rename it Covfefe Lake?

Reliably fallible.

Pete. The last sentence in the second para of the i9 benchmark review doesn't make any sense and could do with editing.

Yeah, I reserved that gag for FB where I could gauge my (mostly English and Aussie) audience a bit better. I do feel the might be a photoshop opportunity I'm wasting here, however.

Yes, I did rather mangle that one. Edited for clarity and thanks. :)

Glad I waited, and didn't drop on Kaby Lake
And thanks to AMD and the power of competition....

2600K>8700K should see me see a significant performance boost...

Hi Guys,

You know you can build an i5-8400 for peanuts (180 + Board 80) that gives scores like this.

https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/search?q=i5-8400

I think I'm going cheap.

Yeah, the i5 look to make a bit of sense this time around. That chips on the to-do list along with the high-end i3 too once I get a spare day to get it done.

More i9 benchmarks - 7940X & 7960X

Just going to bump this here rather than generate a new thread. More of the i9's on the bench.

Looks like you've got the tinkering bug too Pete is it? :bouncy: I can't stop fussing with it either, although that's one of the reasons i was drawn to it so it's all good
