Free, Legal, jBridge alternative
Free, Legal, jBridge alternative
Well... I run a 64-bit computer system and likewise, my DAW, Ableton doesn't accept 32-bit plugins. I have a few 32-bit plugins that I want to use, but can't because of this limitation. I'm also pretty young and likewise, wouldn't like to beg my parents to spend the $26 (CAD) to get jBridge. I really don't want to pirate it, therefore, I have to find some alternative software. So, do any of you know of some free, legal, better or equally functioning plugin-bridging programs?

Sonar comes with a proprietary bridge, called bitbridge.
The new incarnation, Cakewalk, is completely free and you could check if that's usable elsewhere as well.

Reaper includes very effective bridging for 32 bit VST's. In fact, it is so transparent it took me a while to realise that it was going on.
Could you install the 32 bit version of Ableton and process the parts you want to process in that before exporting them to the 64 bit version?

No. Ableton 32-Bit only works on 32-Bit systems.

I would check that - their support page seemed to suggest that you could have both installed on the same 64 bit operating system.

Even if I could, I'd like to use one version, starting up each software is too much of a hassle
