Dymo-esque labelling machine/gadget?

Post by baward »

Hello,

Several months ago, I saw a thread which related to some ideas for a studio labelling gizmo. There were some good recommendations (one I think from Hugh R himself) but I now can’t locate it. Search results mostly give info about record labels, not sticky labels...

Does anyone know what I’m going on about? Thanks!

I have the same one as Hugh, it is very good. If you're labelling gear clean the area with alcohol before sticking the label on for best longevity.

edit:- IIRC it will print whatever you copy/paste into the app, even basic monochrome images/logos

Still mourning the loss of my 'Jedi Poster" status :)

Mine is an older version of this too. This on Amazon is pretty close to it. Cheap on both tape and batteries it gets used all over the place and not just in the studio. Only downside is the arrangement of buttons in alpha rather than qwerty for some reason. Not a showstopper, though.

Brother D600 user here, can take up to 24mm labels and as such can take their printable heatshrink. Compatible labels are available and are mega cheap, from ~£3 a cartridge for 24mm laminated from a UK eBay seller.

Has the advantage over some of the cheaper machines that you can either use it stand alone (in which it has a good array of templates (and you can download your own if you want), electrical symbols and has a QWERTY keyboard, plus it works with the PC/MAC as well using the P-Touch software which is really quite good.

If you want QWERTY then there's this

I have used the Brother P-Touch for many years and it is both reliable and cheap on batteries and tape but do go the extra few pounds for QWERTY well worth it for the lack of hassle.

+1 on the alcohol cleaning. This i3 HP lappy now has 25% of the keys overlaid with Dymo letters! Last about six months. (must do T and I again!)
