Been reading the forum for a while & now signed up as i think i am about to buy the new(er) Midas M32 live mixing desk for some small shows we are doing but just wanted to see if anyone on here has used the old M32 & the new M32 live / if so was there any difference ?
Having read a lot on Facebook i feel its a bit of ''its newer so its better'' but here i feel the response might be a little more grounded..... & knowledgeable as i see this as a very trusted forum for advice
Any help would be super & nice to get a post up & start joining in
AFAIK the main differences are the buttons and the fact it comes with the DN-32-LIVE card for direct to SD recording and 32ch of bidirectional USB audio rather than the original DN-32-USB 32ch usb AI.
I'm pretty sure the M32 has had Midas Pro faders since it's inception in 2013. I've posted on the Music Tribe forum asking the question in case I'm wrong but AFAIK the only changes to the M32/X32 since they were introduced has been firmware and you can easily install an older version if there are changes you don't like.
Just had this reply from a contributor on the MT forum
Not so sure update is the correct term but I believe there are 2 versions of the faders and maybe the fader buttons. I know the M32R has anyway. Same warranty and supposed quality. I apparantly have an older version, even though I bought it fairly recently (new). I have a feeling it is more of a parts availability issue more than anything else but I do not know.
So i spoke to a nice chapat Midas & he confirm that the NEW M32R Live & full size M32 Live have different faders & ones taken from the PRO series desk unlike the other models where they were ''based on'' the same type of design as PRO series.... it's all in the wording ir would seem lol
