I'm planning to get a Scarlett audio card (not exactly sure what model, yet), but I have a question, is it possible to control Focusrite Control 3.5.0 with any MIDI controller? like you can do in Voice Meeter Banana for example.
Also, I have another question for Windows users. I want to know if it is possible to adjust the overall volume, including your DAW, from your windows mixer control by using the Scarlett and FC 3.5.0. In other words, is the sound from your DAW going straight to the output of the card? or it's going through windows too.
Thanks!

Re: Focusrite Control 3.5.0 via MIDI controller?
Not directly - there are no MIDI learn features in the app.
However, on Mac, one guy reverse engineered the communications format the app uses to communicate with the hardware, and made a program to do exactly this, and it's great, but unfortunately not very stable (and he doesn't know how to fix it).
So I've been using this to, for instance, control input and output volumes via a MIDI faderbox when I'm doing stuff other than DAW stuff, and it's really useful.
I wish Focusrite would add this feature properly, though...

I'm the developer of that App and in the meantime I've figured out the issues, but focused my attention on the Universal Audio version for Apollo interfaces, which is working for both Mac & Windows now and are functional and stable. You can take a look here https://www.raduvarga.com/software/ua-midi-control.
I was thinking about the same thing with the Focusrite, I can definately make this work for both platforms, but I'll have to make a paid version to support this development effort - the price point will probably be lower that the UA app - that one has effects and many other complex features.
Do you think there would be enough interest for that?

Thanks - yes, I saw you'd done an Apollo version and no longer had the Focusrite and therefore weren't supporting it any more, and the stability issue made me stop using it, unfortunately.

Hmm, I don't know. The Focusrite's in the main are fairly budget interfaces, so you'd have to factor that in for the pricing - there aren't going to be many people wanting to pay, say £30 to add MIDI controls to a £100 interface, I'd expect.
I'd be happy enough if you'd make the code changes to the Focusrite app so that it didn't crash all the time - probably minimal work from your end as you've already solved that problem in the other version, and I would be happy to pay for a version that was stable.
I'm sure you'll get some interest, but whether it's enough to be worth bothering with, and supporting in the way you've done for the Apollo's, I don't know...

Re: Focusrite Control 3.5.0 via MIDI controller?
Thanks for the input!
Luckily my Focusrite is with a friend next by, so we can switch interfaces for a while if needed
I understand, that was my concern.
If I would do it, I would like to make a free version as well - not very sure what functions I should limit though, there is less stuff to control then on the Apollo. I will think about it.
It's not as trivial as it might seem, it would probably take me a month o so to get something solid on both Mac and Windows. I think much of the user base is on Windows, so it would make more sense to release on both at the same time.
If you'd like, send me a message https://www.raduvarga.com/contact
and I'll keep you updated.
I could send some test builds in a few months if I go for it.

Re: Focusrite Control 3.5.0 via MIDI controller?
No problem, will do.
Happy to test if you decide it's something you want to pursue.
Thanks for your efforts on this anyway - it's very cool!
