"The Best" piece of gear is subjective.
Re: Like analogue vs. digital but for guitarists
Both obviously.
But which goes first?

Blues Driver for me. It's simply more...refined.

Re: Like analogue vs. digital but for guitarists
TS-9 for me, it's errr, less refined

Ashamed to admit I wouldn’t know the difference.
It’s like synthesisers, I wouldn’t know one bleepy noise from another, distortion pedals all sound a bit the same to me. Obviously my ears need looking at.

I guess so. Can't see why not.

Instant gratification is actually pretty good. It's fast as well.

I have got used to using a TC Vintage Distortion on my pedalboard, it is basically two TS-9s in one pedal and I like it a lot. It gives me crunch and saturated overdrives and works fine on everything I do live. Then I bought a Headrush Gigboard and it reminded me that there are countless different flavours of distorted guitar, I'd completely forgotten how many......
I'll end up narrowing it down to two or three sounds for live shows I guess and I'll bet they are not far removed from the sounds of the TC pedal

Which budget TS clone is that? The Joyo one is supposed to use all the right components ...

There were at least quite different two Tube Screamers. I have a very cheap Landlord fx "Amber Nectar" distortion which I believe is supposed to be a TS clone (with two flavours). For £29 it's pretty good.

It's the mooer green mile. Apparently it uses the same chip as the ts808. Definitely worth a look, particularly if you are tight for space or cash!

I must be odd, but I have zero interest in any of the two.
I do use occasionally a Lovepedal Eternity early series, but really not much at all

An amp .
I actually don’t much mind if it’s solid state , tube , hybrid , or modelling
I don’t use distortion pedals , overdrive pedals , fuzz boxes , drive pedals ... just guitar - Wah - amp
There are of course those that I can appreciate , and I do own some , just never use them these days .
If anyone thinks I’m taking this far too seriously
You’re probably right and I need to lighten up

Mostly Retired from Audio.... If I already know you I'll help, if not.... Ask Hugh Robjohns, unless that is you're in need of 80's shred guitar... that, I'm still interested in having fun with...
