TC Electronic June-60 Chorus V2

Post by BillB »

It seems that TC have had another bash at the June-60 chorus pedal, and may possibly have got it right this time.

The V2 promo video, apparently aimed at 5 years-olds with an attention span of 3 seconds, explains that there are now internal dip switches (Fast/Slow) for each of modes 1 and 2. ‘Fast’ is faithful to the June-60 v1, and ‘Slow’ is said to be faithful to the Juno-60.

Ergo, the V1 pedal was never faithful to the Juno-60, which is what anyone, who had even a cursory listen to YT demos of V1, knew without hesitation, irrespective of what the TC marketing machine was assuring us.

There is also an internal dip switch for guitar or keyboard, which seems like a good idea.

Hopefully they have got it right this time around. I still find it amazing that none of them actually listened to the pedal last time around and said ‘hang on a minute, that’s not right....’ :headbang:

I saw this! And I was tempted for a hot second, but then got over it. :D

I recently did a shoot out with three pedals: a phase shifter, a flanger (both MXR), and a chorus (BOSS) to see what I preferred for modulation, and I liked the MXR micro flanger the best.

If you do get the Mk2, I would be curious to hear your thoughts on it!

Thanks Ben. I won’t be rushing. I’ll wait for the inevitable rash of YT videos, ignore all the ones that are in mono, listen especially for synth-based ones, then wait for the price to get off its initial high spot. I have quite a few chorus options, but this does appeal if they have got it right.

By the way, not to muddy the waters, but if you are looking for an absolutely brilliant chorus/flange pedal, I can highly recommend the strymon DECO.

Thanks Ben, good review of the Deco here

Sounds great but I’m not very likely to spend that kind of money on a pedal, although I do have my eye on a Big Sky for one of these Christmases when I have been a very good boy...

You'd only set those dip-switches once. No-one in their right mind would ever want them set to 'V1'!

Personally I'd drop a bit of superglue on them once set...
